Yoga classes in and around Lincoln taught by Elisabeth

My name is Elisabeth, and I created Moksha Yoga in Lincoln 2 years ago. I offer community based yoga classes in public spaces dotted around the city and nearby villages.

I didn’t want to become a yoga teacher when I fell in love with yoga 12 years ago, I actually thought it would be hellish to share something so personal and serious with people I didnt know, this is because I consider my yoga practice to be the most important choice I have made for my life; without my yoga practice I wouldn’t be so comfortable, contented and centred in this life, and the thought of maybe sharing that and having it mishandled by others seemed quite risky to me.

However, that changed naturally as I got older; I eventually undertook the typical 200hr yoga certification most yogis do at some point, -I went along at the time to just do the training as a yoga retreat, just to be around some like minded people and practice daily with others intensively. I didnt set goals or visualise myself doing anything with it, however during the programme (which was led by a very unique teacher Tanya Savitri Popovich) I realised teaching yoga in communities to other souls I didn’t yet know would be the natural outcome for me, and it could be woven into my life and feed off what I knew already and feed into what I didnt yet know; it felt right, and it was inevitable.

I have maintained a daily yoga practice (asana) with dedication for the last 12 years. Meditation and Pranayama practices are nowadays part and parcel of my life, though initially I was much more concentrated on asana. I teach and share what I practice, or have practiced and become experienced within in the past. I profoundly know how much of a difference such regular practice has on physical, mental and spiritual aspects of my own life, I think this is important to share with others. I am interested in the philosophy of Yoga, the histories and cultural contexts of yoga; within my lessons I do try to include aspects of yoga history and philosophy that relate to the now and what we might like to consider in addition to the practice on the mat. The discipline I teach is Vinyasa and Hatha yoga, along with Yin, Nidra, meditation and pranayama. I share methodologies and philosophy with my students in monthly Technique Retreats.
Spaces at my community classes are currently full except for Mondays Vinyasa 6pm (levels 1 and above) & Smooth Saturdays; 10:10am-11:05 every Saturday at Bailgate Methodist Church Halls, go here; Class Schedule
