Tuesday Evenings

At 6pm for one hour there is a vinyasa class suitable for all levels, held in a carpeted warm room to the rear of the church. Within this class you can begin from the very start, if you have never been to a yoga class, this class will be fine for you. There are mats for you to use. If you have been practicing for a long time, this class will also work for you. Come and try the class out and see if my style of teaching works for you. The class flows through a very similar format each week; I rarely detour from a set of principles, they involve;

Gently bringing you into your own body, using the breath and slow considered warm up movements.

Moving through a flow section, beginning to link the breath with the movements- developing focus and intense concentration in more advanced students.

Building subtle heat, intensity levels optional for you and your body.

Cooling, unwinding, developing your own awareness of how to relax yourself utilising the asana practice.

Savasana

Occasionally we meditate, -this is dependent on the students present, the day, the weather, temperature and if through the practice it appears this would be beneficial at the end of class.

At 7:10pm there is a second class; a relaxation class aimed at level 2 students. The postures are not necessarily more demanding, but the time we are within them and the lack of instruction do mean you spend more time “with yourself”. If you are new to yoga this can sometimes be something you might want to experience a few times before diving into this class.
We move through 30 minutes of deeply stretching and relaxing poses before a section of pranayama followed by meditation.

The physical practice is mostly mat based, with few standing postures, there is no “flow”, this is very much seated hatha.
